KDrama : Boys Before Flowers
The sun is NOT shining here in Kuala Lumpur and everybody I know said, well… it’s ‘Cheng Beng’ therefore, it rains everywhere. And perhaps it’s not really a bad thing to me…in fact seems to be a good opportunity to cuddle up on the couch and watch KDrama… that makes most of my weekend!
But in reality, I can’t believe we’re in April 2009! Somehow I feel I’m in the new beginning around the corner (perhaps is a little too late to say that in April, should have felt that in January) and I’m feeling a bit lost without my BBF to comfort me. Yeah… people might be asking now, what is BBF? Check it out here. (yup: you’re right, it’s another KDrama. It is really popular in Korea even before the show started!)
I guess that’s what happen when the producer trying to produce drama based on Japanese manga, it gets a lot of attention especially from people like me (I love Manga) . The plots in the drama actually end up with many ’surprises’ which gives the edge to the drama. As you may know, manga is a source of fantasy to many people and seeing it becomes alive as a drama is almost convincing! And it’s hard not to think about it… I was a little surprise with myselft too, following a drama week by week and enjoying it, obviously it was hard because I keep checking website waiting for the English Sub
Well, BBF runs for 3 months since January this year and just wrapped up recently on the 31st March09 – I was happy with the ending and loving the all the characters in the drama. And I think Lee Min-ho is superb playing Gu Jun Pyo. Without this character, I don’t think this drama is going to make it. I will miss that mon-tues slot (oh ya, it’s wed-thurs for Malaysian here), though I am glad to send the drama off to be archive in DVD.
I guess I don’t need to write more about Boys Before Flowers – if you google BBF, you’ll see plenty of fan services in either Youtube, Google Video, YEOH, ClubBox Kr and etc… and plenty of blog postings about BBF too…

korean drama: bad love
I’m currently watching this KBS’s melodrama Bad Love - starring Kwon Sang Woo, Lee Yeo Won, Kim Seung Soo and few others. I love the casts and the storyline was ’okay’ at first but eventually after watching it at 7 or 8 episodes, I found myself dragging my mood to watch this k-drama.
It’s just too cheesy, not making sense, where on earth that you’ll find so many coincidences of characters entangled with each other. I’m still quite surprise with the scripts writer of this drama – they should have thought about ‘Coffee Prince’ which was aired couple of months ago before writing this, ‘Coffee Prince’ scripts are much more sensible in today society.
Korean Drama : Coffee Prince & Mawang (The Devil)
Well, dunno what to say, but I’ve just finished two of my favourite korean drama…with each “My 1st Coffee Prince Shop” 17 episodes, and “Mawang” 20 episodes in total. Both are good drama with different perspective.
As for Coffee Prince – it has a happy ending, leaving me feeling happy after watching the last episode. It has a nice wrap-up and I think the drama did quite well compared to a typical Korean drama. I especially like the way the Director and the scripwriter potrait a very ‘mature human relationships, regardless of man or woman, young or old’ – I especially like the scene where ‘man’ discussed their inner feelings with their buddies, and how they would like to think and shaping their girlfriend/wife/their woman according to their lifestyle…something fresh because not many korean drama would do that. Overall Coffee Prince received a very good rating and huge support from the fans all around the world, like myself

As for Mawang or “The Devil”, I think this is another best Korean drama ever made. At the end of the episode, I have to regained my composure. Although it was a very sad ending, but it makes me think that human relationship sometimes it’s not just about love between a man and woman but rather about forgiveness and love between people in general. The drama makes me remembered that ‘ we have got to learn how to forgive ourselves and also others, if we choose to keep these emotional within ourselves, we are not going to be happy.
These are the things that we sometimes, forget in our daily live, but thanks to these ‘meaningful’ korean drama, I somehow ‘more aware’ what’s going on around me. The messages in ‘The Devil’ are very deep…and kudos to the actors and actresses who manage to pull it through!

Currently watching ‘Smile Again’ – will post up my thought on this drama soon…
korean drama: Goong
Yup, as usual, one of my addictions is ‘marathon’. It’s not just any marathon, where it involves physical and body movement but its ‘TV series marathon’ hahaha…
This time, it’s one of the best Korean drama, entitled ‘Princess Hours’ or known as ‘Goong’. It became one of MBC’s most popular dramas of 2006. Currently it’s aired in our local channel 8TV but I managed to get the DVD version and watched non-stop since last Friday, continues to Sunday without stopping. It’s consists of 24 episodes, so you can imagine how the process of the ‘tv-marathon’…
It’s funny because I just done a round of marathon for God! Saves our King! – Japanese Anime, during Chinese New Year, and now Goong – Korean Drama! I remember the last I did this was for Desperate Housewives I & II and also for Winter Sonata – Korean Drama (few years back).
Anyway, a little synopsis for this drama: “ The drama set in an alternate 21st century reality where Korea possesses a royal family and the Crown Prince Lee Shin has to marry a commoner ‘Chae-Kyeong’ who he was betrothed to by his late grandfather in an old agreement with the girl’s grandfather. His love for the girl eventually blossoms and a lot of funny incidents and emotional feelings happened”. The four main cast are all newcomers but I have to say, their performances are quite outstanding and I can’t wait for their second seasons (probably will aired by end of this year), hopefully!!
Yoon Eun Hye as Shin Chae-Kyeong (Crown Princess)
Joo Ji Hoon as Lee Shin (Crown Prince)
Kim Jeong Hoon as Lee Yool (Prince Uiseong)
Sung Ji Hyo as Min Hyo-Rin (Crown Price ex-girlfriend)
